"Thank you for your help! I will continue with ascripton, and watch for change. I think I will try a small t-shirt on her to keep her from licking neosporin off." -- S.R.

"Was very helpful! Actually my wife had taken our dog for a walk ... so we assumed that had set her back. Yesterday we enforced total rest ... and she has improved significantly. Will follow the advise given of total rest and continue the medication (though it`s hell on us ... part Border Collie ... bored and vocally expresses her displeasure a lot :-). Thanks for the assistance!" -- B.H.

Hi Beckynjjw,
This is normal, they can lay infertile eggs if their hormones are active, but you should try to distract her and do nothing to encourage her. Hope this answers your question.

encourage her from what??? laying more eggs ? do you think she needs more attention? We have had her for 7 years she has never laid eggs before. do we get rid of the eggs or leave them?

ANSWER Answer (8m 43s later) (February 10, 2010 08:56:09 PM PST) By Expert: Petexp30

Leave the eggs right where she has laid them and allow her to eventually abandon them on her own.  If you remove the eggs, she will continue to lay and lay until she has a full clutch. She may incubate them, but she`ll eventually abandon them and this is when you can remove them. Be sure to keep a cuttlebone in her cage so she can replace any calcium she may need.
